Idaka Twist Bowl
Whether you are making a light lunch at home or entertaining friends for a dinner party, the Idaka Twist Bowl is the perfect bowl for the job. Be it salads, pastas or fruit, this exquisite handmade in Africa bowl is both beautiful and functional. The Idaka Twist Bowl derives its name from the word idaka meaning mud in Zulu due to the unique mudpan effect found on the outside of the bowl. This labour intensive, handmade effect that is added to the outside of the bowl to give it its unique white mudpan like finish with black undertones, is a unique process that is done by adding 4-5 different layers to get the flake like effect. These gorgeous bowls are a contemporary take of the ever classic white salad bowl with their all white inside.
These clay masterpieces are not only aesthetically pleasing, but will most certainly have your guests asking after them. Their unique story of handmade in Africa, then shipped to the world, is a great conversation starter.
All our handmade bowls use locally sourced clay which pass through the hands of at least 6 artisans before being ready for the kiln. Each artisan lovingly adds their own unique touch before a firing in the kiln. The intense heat is key in the creation of each piece and dictates the nuances of each colour. True alchemy through fire.
Artisanally handcrafted each piece of our ceramic service ware range is handmade with the utmost love and care. Due to the handmade nature of our products, each piece is unique with no two pieces ever being the same. Herein lies the true beauty of the handmade product, its perfect imperfections! Celebrating these as a testament to the love and hard work that go into making something so incredibly beautiful. Our handmade products are an alternative to mass produced ceramic design.
